Drum and wear bracket for the Unicender

The Drum is a friction device added to the RE Unicender to save wear and add function. Instillation is required.
This is a new version that also includes a sacrificial wear plate for the bottom "L" bracket.
This listing is for both the Drum, wear plate, screws and lock washers, positioning plate and/or stencil for proper positioning of the screw holes.
Another listing for the Unicender with the Drum and wear plate installed is also available as well as a separate listing for just the "L" bracket wear plate.
Technical notice for the Drum kit or lower wear plate designed by Climbing Innovations LLC and used on the Unicender. A user in New Zealand has reported an issue with the use of the lower friction plate that comes with the Drum Kit or is sold separately by Climbing Innovations LLC. It involves the Unicender being locked into the Control Mode descent. If a user inadvertently places the Unicender in this configuration the climber will need to continue the descent to the ground or to a place where the device can be safely unweighted and reconfigured. The actual descent is unaffected, the climber can control speed and stop the descent at anytime just as one might do if this inadvertent configuration did not occur.

Consider using the stencil or positioning guide for drilling a 5/16 hole for the ¼ bolt. It is advised to use drilling methods that will limit the drill from walking.
Use soft clamps or mallet to push the wear plate over the “L” bracket. Silicone or some adhesive may be used if you are concerned about it coming off.
Be sure to understand the manual that is provided with the Unicender.
These metal parts are anodized, depending on the individual circumstances and friction requirements, consider using a file or coarse sandpaper to remove anodizing where the rope will contact the metal parts.

The HHxf is a unique device in the world of multicenders (a device that allows movement up, down, and laterally with little to no configuration change). It is the only device that combines the load bearing anchor point with the required single rope tending point and allows for on-the-fly added friction.
It is mid-line attachable, does not alter the path of the rope, can be attached to a weighted line, is unaffected by the weight of the rope below it and does not require a configuration change or added components when switching from doubled moving rope to a single rope, in other words, it can go from 100% friction (stopped) to nearly 0% friction for ascent without changing the configuration. It works equally well on a high angle “zip line” as it does on a vertical line.
It does not have “big-top” exposure or collapsible components. It is built with strong solid parts in a low-profile simple design.
Because it is a hybrid device using 360° wraps with a friction hitch, any rope flattening has little effect, making for consistent and predictable performance. Replacement hitch cord does not require a spliced or sewn termination making replacement inexpensive.

Extra Friction Plug: (7075-T6 hard anodized aluminum.) A threaded plug that when inserted into the back of the HHxf body provides extra friction to the mechanical and proportional friction component for descent. (Not to be used during ascent.) It does so by creating a bend in the rope and putting more friction on the other 2 friction components. Don't want to do the installation yourself? Buy the Unicender with everything installed.

The white Dyneema is strong but comes to a 'hard' stop at the end of the stretch. The black bungee has a Nylon cover that lends itself to a softer stop when the end of travel is reached. This effectively makes for a smoother travel. The black bungee is also slightly stronger for a quicker rebound.

SlicPin Keeper

SlicPin Keeper made of Nylon to help prevent dropping or loosing the SlicPin when it is retracted from the HitchHikerXF body. It is strong enough but not so strong as to put undue pull on the SlicPin if it becomes snagged during a climb.
It comes with a black stainless steel oxide #4-40x1/4" phillips pan head screw.
Two options are available, one is for the HHxf with the captive eye and the other is for the HHxf withOUT captive eye SwingArm. They are slightly different lengths from the center of the SlicPin to the center of the screw holding them in place.
Caution: If you make a keeper yourself, be sure it is not of such strength to pull on the head of the SlicPin or prevent the SlicPin from fully engaging.
SlicPin is not included in this purchase.
